Why can't the surface rust of hydraulic jacks be repaired by electroplating method

Time:2025-12-03 Author:gh-jacks

The use of hydraulic jacks in coal mines, chemical plants, and coastal environments is affected by humid environments, which can cause premature rusting, wear, pulling, blistering, coating peeling, and other phenomena on the surface. If not repaired early, it will accelerate the scrapping speed of the entire jack. Why can't we use transmission electroplating to repair the jack when repairing it?

The traditional electroplating method mainly uses electroplating equipment to re coat a layer of chromium on the surface of hydraulic jacks with bumps, strains, and other damages, restoring the surface of the jacks to its original state. Although this method can temporarily solve the problem of surface damage to the jacks, there are also three potential hazards.

The first hidden danger is that the electroplating process is relatively complex, and the maintenance cycle of the jack is long; The second hidden danger is that the electroplating process has a significant impact on the environment, especially the waste liquid containing acid, alkali, and heavy metal components generated after electroplating is prone to polluting water sources; The third hidden danger is that the surface of the chrome plated jack is maintained for a short period of time, and frequent repairs are still needed in the future, which invisibly increases maintenance costs.

Therefore, when the surface of a hydraulic jack is damaged, people either choose to turn a blind eye or opt for simple treatment techniques such as rust removal and polishing.
